DESCRIPTION
COOLTOUCH is a unique
formulation designed to provide an improved temperature protected surface
on metal ladder rungs and other areas. The product is part of a system
which yield an easy to grip, heat and wear resistant covering which is
easily retrofitted over existing ladder rungs and similar surfaces.
The unique formulation minimises burning effects from surfaces
which become heated from ambient heating from, for example, extreme
high/low temperature environments or fires in enclosed spaces.
COOLTOUCH is available in a range of lead and chrome free colours
including safety yellow and is formulated to be 'Non- Regulated by
IATA,IMO and USDOT for uncomplicated shipment by air,sea or land
USES
LADDER RUNGS Especially useful in marine and
Industrial applications to improve and protect bare metal or previously
painted surfaces.
STEP EDGES, FALL HAZARDS
Use to mark unprotected edges on loading platforms, platforms and similar
areas.
INDUSTRIAL Use to protect extreme
internal/ambient temperature transfer on pipes, tanks and similar areas.

SURFACE PREPARATION
BARE METAL RUNGS OR STEPS Degrease with
detergent or common paint solvent on rags observing appropriate safety
rules for working in enclosed spaces with flammable solvents if
applicable. Scratch the surface to be coated using coarse abrasive paper
(40 grit or larger).
PAINTED METAL RUNGS OR
STEPS IN POOR CONDITION If the existing paint is in doubtful
condition it should be removed by any appropriate method such as blasting,
abrading or paint removers, once removed follow the procedures for bare
metal as above.
PAINTED METAL RUNGS OR STEPS
IN GOOD CONDITION Remove surface contamination such as oil or
grease using degreasers or solvents as appropriate then scratch the
surface using coarse abrasive paper.
OTHER
SUBSTRATES Remove surface contamination such as oil or grease using
degreasers or solvents as appropriate then scratch the surface using
coarse abrasive paper.
APPLICATION
COOLTOUCH is supplied in two
gallon (7.56litres) units. 1.50 gallons (5.67 litres) of epoxy base are
filled into a two gallon plastic pail and 0.50 gallons(1.89l) of curing
agent are filled into a one gallon steel can to yield a 3/1 mixing ratio.
Stir the curing agent into the base preferably using a mechanical mixer.
Once mixing is complete, start application immediately - COOLTOUCH does
not require a "sweat-in" or induction time. Potlife is about 30 minutes at
77 degrees F (25 degrees C), small amounts of epoxy solvent may be added
if the mixture begins to thicken noticeably towards the end of its working
life. COOLTOUCH can be applied using a spreader and straight edge or
retrofitted using a gloved hand. Applications may be made in one full coat
at the required millage or may be made in multiple coats if necessary.
TEMPERATURE
Temperature will
exert a considerable influence on the rate of curing of chemically cured
coatings such as COOLTOUCH. In broad terms expect each 10 degrees C, (18
degrees F), rise or fall in temperature to half or double dry times and
pot lives.
TRANSPORTATION
